Your spellchecker will not find the word Aberant. Neither will the online English dictionary. Once erroneously listed in http://thesaurus.reference.com/browse/aberant as a synonym for atypical or nonconforming (the spelling error was removed as of 2008), aberant is often changed by spellcheckers and English teachers alike to aberrant. Interestingly enough, aberrant was defined as abnormal or divergent.

Aberant News [AN] is NOT Aberrant News. I suggest that nonconformity is not the same as abnormality – as it is normal for those that promote change to be nonconformists. So AN shall be its own judge of actions, meaning and truth – and the spelling of aberant. “No spin zone”, and “Fair and balanced”, not withstanding, this site is dedicated to insightful analysis of news stories rather than tabloid rhetoric and rancor.

I am Jerry Bennett. I am not a reporter. I never majored in journalism nor have I ever worked for a news media organization. I am just an average person that is tired of the in your face news media and the relentless search for controversy, stardom and tabloid journalism. So much news – so little information. There is much more biased opinion than journalism in mainstream media today. An opinion is not information it is a guess. And more likely one person’s guess at that.

“Opinions are like Assholes, everyone has one.” [a quote first attributed to Clint Eastwood’s Dirty Harry Callahan in the 1998 movie The Dead Pool] – is as true today as it ever was. I’m not sure however that everyone with an opinion needs to act like an asshole, but reading the mainstream Blogs of today you have to wonder. Insults and name calling are often the remedy for uninspired or uninformed thought. This blog is moderated and no such rancor will be allowed.

On the other hand, dissenting opinions and good old fashioned disagreements are eagerly solicited by this author. To paraphrase William Wrigley, a 19th century industrialist, “When two people always agree, one of them is unnecessary.”

I endeavor to find very necessary people and use their knowledge and opinion to improve my own. As we all should.
